Antelope Valley Senior Expo

Annual Senior Expo. “MASH” theme with appearances by Loretta Swit and Jamie Farr. Free flu shots and medical testing. NAIPC member, Benn Realty Services, Inc., will have a Booth for the fourth consecutive year of the Senior Expo.

Orange County

The expo is free, and will be a day of fun for the entire family as they learn about resources and services available to help create a plan for senior citizens to age in place. Highlights include a keynote speech by Paul Peterson, actor, author and advocate at 1:00 p.m., as well as photo and essay contests, giveaways, prizes, displays, and a mayoral panel from South Orange County cities. The mayoral panel will share what their cities are doing for their senior communities.

We invite Chicago-area professionals to join us for a special luncheon hosted by our corporate sponsor, South Central Bank, to celebrate this week. For the second year, the Metro Louisville Aging in Place Council will host an Aging in Place Roundtable, convening professionals across a wide spectrum of disciplines to discuss strategies to enable aging adults to continue to live safely and independently in their homes.  Guest speaker will be Dr. Graham Rowles, Professor of Gerontology, University of Kentucky, followed by discussion groups for specific interests.

B)  Adopt-A-Senior-Center Program
October 2008
We are launching this program as a way to introduce NAIPC to senior centers in Baltimore County. Individual Baltimore NAIPC Members are being designated as Ambassadors to local senior centers. The role of the Ambassador is that of a liaison to the senior center and to provide educational opportunities, professional information, and resources to enable local seniors to age-in-place.

The Baltimore Chapter is creating a website for seniors and for local senior-serving-organizations. The website was created a resource to seniors who want information or assistance in aging-in-place.

E)  Hotline
The Baltimore Chapter is creating a 24-hour telephone hotline local for seniors who want help from a trusted local professional. Trusted local professionals are NAIPC members. NAIPC follows up with all callers to ensure their needs were met to their satisfaction. 

F)  Education Series (Speaker Series)
Baltimore Chapter is launching an “Education Series”. Senior centers and other local organizations serving seniors may request NAIPC members to provide educational presentations.

We have a number of topics being discussed pertaining to Aging in Place in either a lecture format with questions and answers as well as panel discussions.

1st Annual National Aging in Place Workshop

The event will feature 10-12 exhibitors and two keynote speakers (1) David Craig, certified elder law attorney and (2) Dr. Roger Dionne, from the Sr. Center of Excellence, St. Joseph's Hospital. We're going to get our population familiar with aging in place and hold a drawing to give away free heating oil or propane. Come and join us in this celebration and meet and greet exhibitors who will be on hand to provide you with information on services to help you age in place.

Senior Lending Network®, a program of World Alliance Financial Corp. and a leader in reverse mortgages, announced that chief executive officer, David Peskin and Steve Stern, Suffolk County Legislator for the 16th Legislative District and chairman of the Veterans and Seniors Committee, will be participating with the National Aging in Place Council to celebrate National Aging in Place Week. Mr. Peskin and Legislator Stern will be holding seminars throughout Suffolk County to provide increased awareness for senior independent living.

Rhode Island Statewide Action Conference on “Aging in an Elder-Friendly Community” sponsored by the Senior Agenda Coalition of Rhode Island

Conference is for senior consumers, children with aging parents, and all others who want to learn about creating alternative futures for aging. Keynote speaker is Janet Blanchard (“Aging in Community Takes a Village”), workshops on housing alternatives, livable communities and transportation, support services, and home modifications.
